Within a square, ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); in the margin, the names and titles of the four Rashidun caliphs, ‘Abūbakr al-ṣiddīq / ʿUmar al-fārūq / ʿUthmān dhū al-nūrayn / ʿAlī al-murtaḍā’ (‘Abubakr the truthful, ʿUmar the distinguisher [between right and wrong], ʿUthman the possessor of two lights, ʿAli the one with whom Allah is pleased’ in Arabic).
