Within a circle, ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh waḥdahū / lā sharīka lahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-fals bi Samarqand sana iḥdā wa thamānīn wa miʾatayn’ (‘In the name of Allah. This fals was struck in Samarqand in the year 281’ in Arabic).
