Within a central dotted circle, ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad / rasūl Allāh’ (‘For Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); in the inner margin, ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him’ in Arabic); in the outer margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-fals bi Īlāq sana khams wa tisʿīn wa thalātha miʾa’ (‘In the name of Allah. This fals was struck in Ilaq in the year 395’ in Arabic).

Within a central square, ‘dihqān al-jalīl / Muḥammad / ibn Manṣūr’ (‘The glorious dihqan Muhammad son of Mansur’ in Arabic); citing his overlord Ahmad ibn ʿAli (AH 384-407 / AD 994-1016) in the margin, ‘mimmā amara bihī al-amīr al-jalīl Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī ayyadahū Allāh’ (‘From that ordered by the glorious amir Ahmad son of ʿAli. May Allah help him’ in Arabic).
