Within a circle, ‘lā ilāha illā / Allāh waḥdahū / lā sharīka lahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-fals bi Samarqand sana khams wa miʾatayn’ (‘In the name of Allah. This fals was struck in Samarqand in the year 205’ in Arabic).

Within a circle, ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad / rasūl / Allāh’ (‘For Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); citing governor Ghassan ibn ʿAbbad in the margin, ‘mimmā amara bihī al-amīr Ghassān ibn ʿAbbād abqāhū Allāh’ (‘From that ordered by Amir Ghassan son of ʿAbbad. May Allah prolong his life’ in Arabic).
